Forbes magazine has released its list of the top 100 cities that give you the "best bang for your buck." The criteria were: Housing Affordablity, Travel Time, Real Estate Taxes, Unemployment, Vacancies, Job Forecast, Home Price Forecast, and Foreclosures. Several Pennsylvania cities are on the list and there are some political ramifications:
#11 Scranton / Wilkes-Barre
#13 Harrisburg / Carlisle
#22 Pittsburgh Metro area
#25 Youngstown-Warren-Boardman, OH-PA Metro Area
#66 Allentown-Bethlehem-Easton, PA-NJ Metro Area
#78 Philadelphia-Camden-Wilmington, PA-NJ-DE-MD Metro Area
#98 New York-Northern New Jersey-Long Island, NY-NJ-PA Metro Area
Both the mayor of Scranton, Chris Doherty, and the Allegheny County Executive (Pittsburgh area), Dan Onorato, are Democratic candidates for governor. You might see these numbers in campaign literature at some point.
