A Note on Missing Monday

This is the first Monday of the month and should, therefore, be Missing Monday, the day set aside for local bloggers to highlight missing persons cases. This is a wonderful effort. Unfortunately I'm suspending my efforts in it for a few months. There are a few tricky issues that have come up with the involvement of this blog in particular that I want to iron out. I hope some other bloggers step in to fill the gap.

Missing Monday

It's the first Monday of the month -- Missing Monday in the regional blogosphere. This case is older but in the advent of recent news stories of kids receovered years after they were taken, it seems worthwhile to post. Click on the name to see a photos of the boy when last seen and an age progression.

Circumstances: Ke'Shaun's photo is shown age-progressed to 13 years. He was abducted from his residence by an unknown black female. Suspect is believed to be between the ages of 35-40 years old and uses the alias "Virginia Graham."

Missing Monday

The first Monday of the month is set aside by some area bloggers to highlight a local missing person's case. Since this is February let's remember the second anniversary of the disappearance of Richard Petrone and Danielle Imbo.

February 19, 2005. Richard Petrone Jr. of South Philadelphia, and his girlfriend, Danielle (Ottobre) Imbo of Mount Laurel, N.J., were last seen at around 11:45 pm on Saturday, Feb. 19, 2005 after leaving Abilene's bar at 429 South Street in Philadelphia, where they met with some friends. They were heading for Richard's 2001 black Dodge Dakota pickup truck, PA license plate # YFH-2319 parked in the area.

Danielle, Richard, or the truck haven't been seen since and there have been no traces or clues as to their whereabouts.

The couple planned to spend the night at Danielle's house in Mount Laurel, New Jersey. The next day, Richard was to come back to his apartment on Snyder Avenue near 16th Street to watch the Daytona 500. No one knows if the couple ever made it to Danielle's house Saturday night.

Richard is 35 years old, 5 feet 9 inches tall, 200 pounds and has brown hair, and blue eyes. He has an "Angela" tattoo on his left arm and clowns on his right arm. Richard was wearing a gray hooded sweatshirt, jeans, and sneakers. Danielle is 5 feet 5 inches tall, 117 pounds, with hazel eyes, fair skin and brown hair. She has a tattoo of flowers on her lower back. She was wearing a black jacket, cream-colored sweater and blue jeans.

Missing Monday Update

One of the children I featured in a Missing Monday post earlier this year has been found. I don't have any details other than the name, which I won't post to let the family have some privacy. For those unfamiliar with it, some bloggers in the region highlight a local missing persons case on the first Monday of each month. Most of the time we don't know if the case is solved afterwards. In this case I noticed a flash of hits in sitemeter for the missing child's name and looked into it to see why there was sudden interest. A quick google search found a report of the recovery. Welcome home, young one!

[Update: Curious, I went back through other Missing Monday posts and found three other cases that have been removed from the missing persons databases I use. So those cases were resolved, one way or another. This is interesting. In the future I will keep closer watch.]

MSM on Missing Philly Woman

A number of Philly area bloggers, including many of those on my blogroll, have posted the picture and information on Latoyia Figueroa, an area woman missing for 9 days. The MSM has been receiving a lot of criticism for focusing on wealthy, pretty, white girls to the exclusion of all other missing persons. Last night, though, I saw a note about Figueroa on the late night news and now there is a story about it on CNN. The work done by bloggers is mentioned, although no specific names are given. I didn't have a posting on it because I haven't figured out how to include photos yet. It is a sad excuse, I know.
