In a St. Louis interview Mitt Romney said he would "get rid of" "ObamaCare," Planned Parenthood, and subsidies for Amtrak. Those wondering what exactly Planned Parenthood does should review their annual report. About a third of their services go towards contraception, 38% go to std testing and treatment (for both men and women), and over 10% is cancer screenings, primarily pap tests and breast cancer screening. About 3% of their spending is for abortion services. Planned Parenthood gets less than half of its funding from government sources. I've mentioned this on the blog before, as a young graduate student I took advantage of a local Planned Parenthood clinic for health screenings that found a precancerous growth. I've heard similar tales from other women. Removing this health care option will likely lead to an increase in sexually transmitted diseases, unplanned pregnancies, and cancer.
I also like the Amtrak subsidies but that's another post.
