CNN is reporting that Pipistrel USA of State College, PA won a $1.35 million prize from NASA for developing a highly efficient airplane power by electricity. It is the third CAFE / NASA competition Pipistrel has won. The company's website has more about the Taurus G4 and its history. The firm has won a number of competitions, and has several types of planes for sale. The name Pipistrel is from the Latin word for bat, pipistrellus; some of their early planes had a bat-like shape when viewed from the ground.
