PCN replayed Josh Shapiro's press conference. I've heard Shapiro speak, both in person and on television. He is a measured, confident, and authoritative speaker. This time he was fiery and not, I think, as polished as he often is. The lighting was bad but he looked a little paler, a little more stressed than usual. He really emphasized certain words or phrases. It was much different listening to him say his remarks than reading them. He didn't read from notes that I could see.
There were questions after he finished speaking. It was impossible to hear the questions and so some of the answers, without context, were also difficult to grasp. However, some things were clear. Shapiro spoke with DeWeese at least a few hours before the press conference, to tell him what was planned, and it was not the first conversation they had on the topic. When asked about the lack of outrage from the populace Shapiro said regular Pennsylvanians had approached him when he was out in his district telling him that changes needed to be made. He was definite in not suggesting DeWeese retire from the legislature, only as the Majority Leader. He had no comment on who should replace DeWeese other than to say he was not seeking the job.
The only reporter I recognized was John Micek. Someone mentioned Mario (Cattabiani?) and Brett (probably not Lieberman).
