State Senator Connie Williams has announced that she will not run for re-election next year. State Rep. Daylin Leach has announced that he will run for that state senate seat. (Source: "Montco's Sen. Williams: I won't run again," by William Bender, Daily News, posted 12/27).
Any chance this means Sen. Williams might run for the 6th congressional seat against Jim Gerlach? (Update: on closer reading Williams says she won't run for office again.)

There was springtime chatter that Ed Rendell would back a primary challenge to Williams due to her vote against Kathleen McGinty's reconfirmation. Hmmm....
LI,
Interesting point. Politics is so messy.
Connie is throwing big money into the Bill Clinton, sorry, Hilary Clinton campaign. So she probably wants a position from the Clintons if (god help us)Hillary wins. As for the rest of us, the idea of The Leach, becoming a State Senator is sad. This perverse, political hack should have ben literally thrown out years ago. You know his followers had to be worried when they looked at staff bonuses. But The Leach is so repugnant that his own party wouldn't even let him saddle up to their pig trough of public funds.
Now now, anon, play nice. Perverse I will grant you, but it is possible, regarding staff bonuses, that if his staff didn't receive outlandish amounts, he was simply trying to play fair. I haven't looked into it enough to say anything about it. If you have specifics please let us know, but no name calling, please.
