In a continuing effort to look at legislation in weird and wonderful ways, I bring you a bill and a resolution from the US House that just seemed to fit together in a style vs. substance context, though you are welcome to disagree with me on that. It is interesting to look at where the Pennsylvania congressional delegation fits into these two items. This looks only at co-sponsorship. H.Res.177 is listed as Barabaro, HR 503 as Horse. Some co-sponsored both, some neither. I don't really see any patterns. It was just something I ran across rooting through Thomas.
H.RES.117
Title: Honoring the contributions of Barbaro to the Commonwealths of Kentucky and Pennsylvania and to America's horseracing industry.
24 co-sponsors, 10 from PA

I think HR. 503 is a slam dunk piece of legislation. Sestak talked about it as a side note in his conversation with the Swarthmore Dems last week. His little girl, Alex, is a huge horse lover, so she accompanied her dad down on the floor to assist him with his vote. He relayed that when she saw that two people had actually voted against it, she was beside herself that people would vote that way.
It is hard to imagine anyone voting against it. His daughter will probably remember "saving the horses" as a high point of her childhood.
