Today, Philadelphia’s top law enforcement official, District Attorney Seth Williams, endorsed Iraq war veteran and former Congressman Patrick Murphy for Pennsylvania Attorney General.
“Tough and smart, Patrick Murphy has the experience and passion to protect the people of Pennsylvania. As Attorney General, Patrick will be the champion that local law enforcement needs to put dangerous criminals behind bars and keep our streets safe,” said Williams. “Patrick put his life on the line to defend our nation. He will bring that commitment to this job, and Pennsylvania will be safer for it.”
“Patrick understands that we owe it to Pennsylvanians to prevent crime, not just punish it. That means tackling the problems that lead to crime and providing alternatives to young people so we can keep them out of the criminal justice system,” Williams said.
“Law enforcement should be proactive, not reactive. Patrick and I share a comprehensive approach to fighting crime – one that goes beyond the courtroom and into communities, where we can empower residents and give them a role in making our neighborhoods safer,” Williams said. “I’m looking forward to working with Patrick on efforts like our Community Action Centers and reducing gun violence in our cities.”
“Seth Williams is a strong, innovative leader and prosecutor. He has an inspiring vision for a safer Philadelphia and he has done great work in a short period of time,” Murphy said. “I’m honored to have DA Williams’ support and I look forward to making sure he has the tools he needs to continue his aggressive agenda.”
