On Sunday, May 15, 2011 the Philadelphia Bar Association will host their 32nd Annual 5K Run/Walk to benefit Support Center for Child Advocates, the nation's oldest and largest pro bono program providing free legal and social services for abused and neglected children. More than 1,500 Bar Association and community members are expected to converge on Martin Luther King, Jr. Drive at 8:30 am for the 3.1. mile race, an open walk and the Buchanan Ingersoll & Rooney Kids' Dash. Radio station, B101 will provide music, face painting and activities for all ages.

Proceeds from the race will support Child Advocates in their continued efforts to serve more than 800 children, train upwards of 350 volunteer attorneys and team staff social workers with child clients to ensure them with permanent and nurturing homes.

"The Bar Association 5K Run/Walk has been an incredible event for 32 years. We are grateful for the support of the Bar Association, our corporate and legal sponsors and the everyday people who participate in this tremendous affair helping Child Advocates change the story for abused and neglected children in Philadelphia," said Child Advocates' Executive Director, Frank Cervone, a nationally recognized legal expert on child abuse issues.

Pre-registration for individuals and corporate/legal teams will take place May 9-13 (10:00 am - 7:30pm) at Philadelphia Runner located 1601 Sansom Street. The local specialty running shop and event sponsor is offering a $200 cash prize for the lawyer who defeats the historic 12-year legal competition champion, Neill W. Clark of Berger & Montague Associates. All runners who beat their 2010 race time will receive a gift from Brooks footwear.
