SEPTA's "Sports Express" This Week

From today's inbox:

The Phillies are ready to start post-season defense of their World Series title, and SEPTA is offering extra service to get fans to Citizens Bank Park for all the action.

The Fightin’ Phils open the National League Division Series at home on Wednesday, October 7th against the Colorado Rockies. The first pitch is scheduled to be thrown at 2:37 p.m. To accommodate fans making the midday rush to the ballpark, SEPTA will run Sports Express service on the Broad Street Line to the Sports Complex in South Philadelphia.

In addition to regularly scheduled service, two extra Sports Express trains will run prior to the game, departing Fern Rock Transportation Center at 1:28 p.m. and 1:41 p.m. These trains stop at Olney, Erie, Girard, Spring Garden, Race-Vine, City Hall and Walnut-Locust, before reaching the Pattison Avenue Station at the Sports Complex in South Philadelphia. An average Sports Express trip from City Hall to Pattison Avenue takes just 8 minutes.

To get fans home, SEPTA has added service on the Broad Street Line after the game. Customers will find trains waiting for them at Pattison Avenue once the last out is recorded.

SEPTA will run the same extra Broad Street Line service for Thursday’s Phillies-Rockies game, which is also schedule to start at 2:37 p.m.

SEPTA’s service isn’t just an easy way for Phillies fans to get to the game, it’s also economical.

By purchasing a two-pack of tokens, fans can get to and from the game on the Broad Street Line for just $2.90. One-way cash fare is $2.

For those making transfers from Regional Rail and other services to the Broad Street Line, SEPTA’s Independence Pass offers unlimited one-day travel on all modes at a big savings. An Individual Independence Pass is just $10, while a family of five can travel together for just $25 with the Family Independence Pass. Also, SEPTA customers with weekly and monthly TransPasses and TrailPasses can use their passes for travel to and from the game.
