From today's Pittsburgh Tribune Review, "Allegheny County GOP mulls primary slate in Pennsylvania," by Debra Erdley
In recent days, some have singled out [Joe] Watkins, a Princeton-educated conservative who is pastor of the oldest black Lutheran Church in Philadelphia, as a potential candidate for lieutenant governor. An East-West ticket featuring [Tom] Corbett and Watkins could be a strong selling point for Republicans in the 2010 general election, they reason.
Watkins, who lost a Senate primary to Rick Santorum in 1994, insisted he's happy offering his opinion to a national audience on MSNBC and ministering to a small parish in one of north Philadelphia's poorest neighborhoods.
