I've been carefully reading the news stories about the young man in Montgomery County who had accumulated a number of weapons. One sentence in Saturday's Inky story ("Gun charge for mother," by Kathleen Brady Shea) stood out for me, a statement by District Attorney Bruce Castor:
"The suspect is a socially maladjusted boy who doesn't have real close friends," Castor said.
The boy is 14. Perhaps my adolescence was unusual but aren't most 14 year olds socially maladjusted? It just seemed to be an odd thing to say.

well, he wasn't *popular*! popular kids may be maladjusted in other ways, but they're the ways that are applauded and rewarded by society, rather than raising mistrust and misunderstanding...
good point
