Years ago there were many variants, as well, including dynamite (one finger) and probably a nuclear bomb. So it goes...
The gun defeats paper and scissors but the rock can deflect bullets. I had never heard of any other variants so it is all news to me. When I was a kid we just had the original three. If there used to be a nuclear bomb then a gun might actually be a step in the right direction!
