It has been noted that in our most recent wars the effects of actual combat, and the burden of actually serving in the military, falls on a comparatively small percentage of the population. Those who do now have any family or friends who have served in the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan might find it illuminating to read "While my son serves" by Dave Shiflett, in Saturday's WSJ.
Remember those in uniform when donating to charities or planning service projects or simply saying prayers.
