A few weeks ago I sat in on a conference call with some people from the Sierra Club to talk about some energy legislation. One bill they discussed is HR 5351, the Renewable Energy and Energy Conservation Tax Act of 2008, which would continue tax credits for energy conservation and renewable energy. The bill passed the House in February and has been sitting in committee in the Senate every since. As a local note, Rep. Allyson Schwartz (D-13) was the only Pennsylvania co-sponsor. If I read the Congressional Budget Office cost assessment correctly (and this is always an iffy proposition), the bill will begin increasing revenues in 2011.
