One of my fellow local bloggers, Daddy Democrat, reports that a cartoon he created was posted to NPR's On the Media page. He gives the full story, telling more about graphics packages than I could follow.

Wow, such attention! I just wanted to clarify that my calling attention to the NPR using my cartoon is not so much out of pride. I'm happy that it had a little more life beyond my own blog. But I was really trying to make a point about the virtues of giving away your intellectual property.
I distribute my cartoons with a license that basically says that anybody can use them, reproduce them, or expand on them, so long as they acknowledge my original work. NPR didn't have to ask to use the comic, because they knew they already had my permission.
In this age where big media is trying to chase down every two-bit copyright violation, there's a growing wealth of material from creative amatuers who are happy to have their work reach a wider audience.
