Keystone Politics is reporting that Gov. Rendell made some controversial comments about Catherine Baker Knoll, his once and presumed future lt. gov. You can read them here. I have had a confirmation that the remarks were indeed made but the MSM has not picked it up.

Sure it's not the same source as was
quoted on KP? Greg didn't say his source nor did he tell us editors.
Anyway, I don't think there's any new
news here. Rendell didn't want CBK, but that's who the system gave him.
Phillydem, I don't know who Greg's sources were and haven't emailed him about this. I was asked to post about it and declined due to lack of attribution, so I was given a guarantee from someone who has not steered me wrong yet. The fact that I linked to KP and didn't copy the remarks directly can be taken as a vestige of caution. He may not have wanted her as a running mate but to date, to my knowledge, his public comments have been those of support for her candidacy.
Jane, I'm not a CBK fan and will vote for Roberts in the primary. That said, my antenna went up when the story was posted over at KP. It just struck me as a, I don't know, "planned", I guess, leak.
From the beginning I found it interesting that the guv twisted Hoeffel's arm to quit the ltgov race, but did not try to get Roberts out.
I suspect the calculus was that Hoeffel would win giving the ticket
two from the SE which could cede the
western vote to Swann, but EITHER Roberts or CBK would help hold the western vote.
In any event, looks like some fun intrigue going on behind the scenes.
phillydem,
I didn't think the words sounded "eddish" but I've never actually spoken to him so maybe that is how he talks. Maybe there will be something in the papers this weekend to straighten things out.
I didn't either based on seeing him as mayor for 8 years, but Greg believes
differently from his experience.
It will be interesting to see if the story gets "legs".
Do you know which young democrat event this happened at? Rendell should be apprehensive about Catherine Baker Knoll.
I got a few details of when and where but not enough to say anything in public about it. Hopefully one of those real reporter types will check into it.
