According to today's Inky, Joe Hoeffel has definite plans to run for lt. gov.
Receiving no objection from Gov. Rendell, former U.S. Rep. Joseph Hoeffel said yesterday he would move ahead with his planned campaign for lieutenant governor.
I've made my regard for Hoeffel clear in previous posts. This will be an interesting race to watch.

Another progressive candidate, who also recieved no objection from the Governor, is Valerie McDonald Roberts. A progressive African-American woman running for lieutenant governor.
Her race should be the one to watch.
wow, look at all this ass kissing to rendell. who is he, the godfather? isn't it a free country to run for office if you want to run for office? blech. especially to joe.
How kind of Ed to not "clear the field" of all progressives...
talking to someone, who would be your running mate after the primary isn't ass kissing but common sense...
Val has no real experience. Hoeffel has been a county commissioner, state rep and congressman. Val was reg of wills? Yeah, both are better that CBK, but they are in different leagues.
And as the sitting governor, Rendell is a valuable connection to make. You talk to higher ups to see if they can help you in any way. You don't have to meet with them, but it's foolish not to try and garner all the resources available.
JH is a big boost to the ticket. VMR is a fine lady, but lacks the name recognition and strong campaign organization that JH has. Since both are progressive, you have to pick the horse with a better overall campaign....thus, I'm with JH.
I heard that Valerie had problems with her campaign manager, but has hired a new one. Let's see if it makes a difference.

Dude, we can't lose our current Lt. Gov. I mean, who will introduce Edward G. Robinson?
I have to disagree with lvdem on every point.
Joe's name is well known to us polictical junkies but after that weak campaign in 2004 that's it. Val was on city council and president of the school board in a pretty sizable city out in the west,Pittsburgh for the easterners out there. Finally, she's not register of wills but the recorder of deeds, in a office that generates a sizable amount of cash flow for allegheny county. 'nuff said...
