Local Investment Clubs

April is Financial Literary Month. In the past I have mentioned on the blog that my family is part of an investment club. If this has intrigued you and you are interested in learning more, there are two upcoming events from the Philadelphia area chapter of BetterInvesting, an umbrella organization for a number of investment clubs, to keep in mind:

On Thurday May 8, 2008, the Annual Meeting and Social hour will be held at the DoubleTree Guest Suites in Plymouth Meeting. There will be a brief meeting for election of chapter directors. After the meeting, a wine and cheese social hour will be held. Please join us and let us know what we can do to enhance your investing skills. This event is free but you must register by May 3 for an accurate count.

The Philadelphia Area Model Investment Club will have its first public meeting at the Norristown Library from 9:30am to Noon on May 10, 2008. Like any investment club, the Model Club’s purpose is to make money for its members. But as a model club, it is also intended to serve as an educational tool. Chapter members who are not members of the Model club may attend Model Club meetings as observers. You may pick up ideas to improve the operation of your own investment club. This event is free.
