andMarket-Frankford Line trains will not operate through a portion of Center City this weekend, with shuttle buses providing substitute service for customers. This is to accommodate construction related to the Center City District’s Dilworth Plaza improvement project.Shuttle buses will operate between 11th and 30th Streets on Saturday and Sunday, Jan. 12-13, in place of regular train service, which starts at 5 a.m. and continues until approximately 12:30 a.m. Night Owl Bus service on the Market-Frankford Line, which operates during overnight hours, will not be affected.
SEPTA would like to advise customers of upcoming changes on northbound Route 52 buses in the Wynnefield area. These modifications are being put in place to help improve operations and enhance customer service.On Monday, January 14, northbound Route 52 buses will begin new turnaround routing, using Wynnefield Avenue and Cardinal Avenue to reach City Avenue and the layover location for the buses on 54th Street. To accommodate this new routing, the following service changes will be implemented:
- Trips ending at 54th Street and City Avenue will operate via Wynnefield Avenue, Cardinal Avenue, and City Avenue to reach their final destination at 54th Street and City Avenue.
- The turnaround route currently operating on Belmont and Conshohocken Avenues will be discontinued.
- Customers will not be able to board or exit northbound buses from 54th Street and Wynnefield Avenue to Cardinal and City Avenues. The first stop on the new routing will be at Cardinal and City Avenues.
- The 54th Street and Overbrook Avenue stop will be discontinued for all northbound trips except those going to Gladwyne.
- Route 52 Gladwyne trips will continue to operate north on 54th Street to City Avenue, then towards Gladwyne.
The new routing allows SEPTA to utilize a more efficient turnaround method on the Route 52, a key part of the transit system that serves nearly 17,000 riders daily.SEPTA has met with Wynnefield community groups to discuss this change. As a result of these discussions, the new turnaround routing will be implemented with several safety measures incorporated into operations on Wynnefield Avenue. Buses will adhere to a strict 15 mph speed limit, which will be monitored and enforced by SEPTA supervisors. There will be no bus stops on Wynnefield Avenue, and buses will only use this stretch for northbound travel.
