HealthCare.gov has prepared state by state information sheets (see the Pennsylvania data) on the Affordable Care Act. The site is managed by the Dept of Health and Human Services. Here is an excerpt:
Creating new coverage options for individuals with pre-existing conditions As of April 2012, 5,355 previously uninsured residents of Pennsylvania who were locked out of the coverage system because of a pre-existing condition are now insured through a new Pre-Existing Condition Insurance Plan that was created under the new health reform law. Jane, if, as expected the AHCA is overturned, here are two things I believe Obama could do immediately to ensure wider access to affordable health care.
First, open FEHB (federal health benefits program) to all. While premiums might not be initially subsidized, the HSA (health savings acct) tax deduction rule could be modified or changed entirely to allow for recovery of some portion of the premium.
Second, expand VA health coverage to the immediate family of service members. This would be spouse or partner, siblings and children. Parents who are not covered under an existing program would also be eligible.
