Dr. Jill Biden, Kid's Books, and Girl Scouts

Dr. Jill Biden will be in Philadelphia tomorrow (Thursday) to read her new book Don’t Forget, God Bless Our Troops with children from local schools.  The book is told through the viewpoint of a little girl, based on Biden's granddaughter, whose father is in Iraq for a year.  The book also includes resources about what readers can do to support military service members and their families.

Dr. Biden accepted no advance for the book and will donate all net author proceeds to the USO to provide additional resources for the future education of children of military families.  In addition, publisher Simon & Schuster will make a contribution to the USO to support military children in honor of the book’s publication.

Tomorrow evening Dr. Biden returns to Washington to talk to the Girl Scouts of the USA National Leadership, who are gathered in Washington, D.C. in advance of Rock the Mall, the world’s largest sing-along in honor of the 100th Anniversary of Girl Scouting.  Girls Scouts adult leaders from 112 councils across all 50 states will be in attendance.
