A Note from Planned Parenthood PAC

Critical Message for Voters from Sari Stevens, Planned Parenthood Pennsylvania Advocates & PAC

“With only four days until voters across Pennsylvania and across the country head to the polls, Planned Parenthood Pennsylvania Advocates & PAC is reminding voters how important it is to keep politicians out of the exam room and vote to protect women’s health. From redefining rape, to defunding Planned Parenthood, throughout this campaign season, reproductive health care has remained front and center in the election.   We all know there is a stark difference between the presidential candidates when it comes to protecting women and their ability to decide what’s best for them and their families.

If elected, Mitt Romney has already vowed to “get rid of” Planned Parenthood. Yet nearly three million patients come to Planned Parenthood every year — not to make a political statement, but to get high-quality, affordable health care.  Women in America trust Planned Parenthood.

In Pennsylvania, women trust Planned Parenthood.  Planned Parenthood health centers in Pennsylvania saw more than 120,000 patients in 2011 and conducted more than 200,000 tests for sexually transmitted infections, 40,000 life-saving cervical cancer screenings and 44,000 breast wellness exams.

Yet, just in the last 18 months of legislative session, Pennsylvania politicians voted 55 times to restrict access to women’s reproductive healthcare. In the decade prior, there were 13 total votes. The past year proves now more than ever that women have the responsibility to hold elected officials accountable for the relentless attacks on reproductive healthcare.

When you vote this year, support the only candidate in this race who trusts women - President Barack Obama.”
