Murphy Releases AG Poll

from the inbox:

Iraq war veteran and former prosecutor Patrick Murphy holds a commanding lead over his two Democratic primary opponents. In a poll conducted this week byGlobal Strategy Group, Murphy leads his closest challenger Kathleen Kane, 36% to 15%. Dan McCaffery finishes a distant third with 8%.

The regional breakdown is even more telling. Murphy dominates the Philadelphia region, one of the most expensive media markets in the country. In the vote-rich Philadelphia suburbs, Murphy earns a staggering 61% of the vote, with his opponents trailing dramatically (Kane at 8% and McCaffery at 5%). In Philadelphia, McCaffery’s home region, Murphy leads McCaffery by 32 points – 37% to 5%. Kane trails Murphy by 27 points in Philadelphia.

These numbers reinforce the incredible momentum Patrick’s campaign has gained. Patrick has earned the support of 55 elected officials from across Pennsylvania, 21 labor unions that represent over 300,000 working families, and 31 Democratic Party leaders from across the Commonwealth. Here’s what a few of them are saying about Patrick:

“Patrick Murphy has prosecuted terrorists and served our country in combat. As Attorney General, I know that Patrick will stop at nothing to protect the people of this Commonwealth, and that’s why he has my support. Republicans in Harrisburg are pushing an extreme agenda that is hurting Pennsylvanians. Patrick is the only one in this race who has fought the GOP and won,” said Governor Ed Rendell.

"One thing I have learned about Patrick over the last few years, is that he is a tireless worker. He comes from a working-class background. He's one of us in WesternPennsylvania, with good blue-collar roots, who has served our country with distinction. He is truly a hero to go out and keep the rest of us free. We have a man here who has integrity...and we respect that here in Western Pennsylvania," said Allegheny County Executive Rich Fitzgerald.

“Tough and smart, Patrick Murphy has the experience and passion to protect the people of Pennsylvania. As Attorney General, Patrick will be the champion that local law enforcement needs to put dangerous criminals behind bars and keep our streets safe. Patrick put his life on the line to defend our nation. He will bring that commitment to this job, and Pennsylvania will be safer for it,” said Philadelphia District Attorney Seth Williams.

“I’m absolutely overwhelmed by the support our campaign has received. Folks across Pennsylvania understand why this race is so important. Too many people have lost their jobs, their pensions or their homes because of reckless decisions made on Wall Street and they want an Attorney General who will do something about it,” Murphy said. “As Attorney General I will stop at nothing to protect Pennsylvania families, something I have dedicated my entire life to doing. I will fight crime wherever it exists – on the street, in the corporate boardroom or in Harrisburg.”
