Another GOP Comment on Corbett

A few weeks ago Republican candidate for the 7th congressional district, Pat Meehan, suggested people ask Tom Corbett, Republican candidate for governor, why charges had not been brought against Meehan's opponent. At time this just seemed to me like the nervous reaction of someone fielding questions he was not prepared for.

However, this past Monday, the Republican Senate Majority Leader, Dominic Pileggi, questioned one of Corbett's campaign promises. Corbett has said he won't raise taxes. According to the Pittsburgh Tribune Review "Pileggi: Corbett won't be able to keep no tax-hike pledge," by Brad Bumsted, 6/28):

"I don't see how he can do it, frankly," Pileggi, of Delaware County, said in response to a question while speaking to the Pennsylvania Press Club.

This seems a little more serious, as Corbett would surely assume Pileggi would be a significant ally if he were elected governor. In any event, two Republicans questioning Corbett's actions or statements over the course of a campaign are not that damaging but two so close together stand out. If this becomes a trend it could be a problem for Corbett come the fall campaigning season.

It's something to watch, certainly.

Hey, sorry to hear about your trouble with Kos. I read your initial post there and didn't seem what the fuss was all about.
