Pennsylvania Women Derails British Government

You know that weird and wacky election the Brits had earlier this year? Turns out the political upheaval was all due to Heather Brooke, who started asking questions about the spending habits of MPs. According to "Party Games," by John Lanchester in the 6/07 New Yorker:

Born in Pennsylvania in 1970, and brought up in Washington State, she came to live in England in 1997, after the death of her mother.

Before moving to the UK she worked at the Spokane spokesman-Review and learned the art of filing Freedom of Information requests.
