Virginia Thomas Points to Ed Rendell

Virginia Thomas, wife of Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas, is playing a leadership role in a newly created nonprofit associated with tea party groups. In a Los Angeles Times article ("Justice's wife launches 'tea party' group," by Kathleen Hennessey, 3/14)she is asked about the propriety of the spouse of a justice seeking and accepting corporate donations for possible political purposes she pointed to one of Pennsylvania's own power couples:

"I don't involve myself in litigation. Are you asking that because there's a different standard for conservatives? Did you ask Ed Rendell that question?" she said, referring to the Democratic governor of Pennsylvania, who is married to a federal appellate court judge.

The article goes on to point out how the Rendells keep their marriage together and their jobs apart.
