When I first was old enough to vote Evans was running for Governor and I met him at a candidate gagle and was impressed. The first vote I ever cast was for him in the primary. I don't know Philly politics but I hope he wins.

Dwight's a smart guy, but with two failed tries for mayor, his time has passed. The other thing is, there may be other voters like me who think Dwight helps Philadelphia where he is in Harrisburg as Appropriations Cmte
Chairman than he could as mayor.
Tom Knox is going to win the primary.
Nutter is too polarizing, IMO, and his recent "upswing" is mostly just
movement within the MOE.

I'm hoping for Nutter or Evans myself. Knox? Yikes!!!!

Nutter is too polarizing??? Wow, what a strange comment. After 5 minutes with Knox, you realize he has no substance and a predilection for shadiness. That's the last thing Philly needs. Nutter is exceedingly smart and has been leading the push for reform for many years. Without Nutter, we would never have had the beginning of eithics reform and people like Carol Campbell could continue to exploit the people of Philadelphia with impunity. Philadelphia deserves better. Philadelphia deserves Micheal Nutter.

Nutter for Mayor

Nutter is far too cozy with the Chamber of Commerce and its GOP and business-friendly, tax-cutting agenda. I haven't forgotten how Nutter got in bed with Perzel and landed himself a gig on the Convention Center board either. Why do think the Inky endorsed him? Because the editorial board wants a Republican mayor and if they can't have Sam Katz, Nutter's the next best thing.

And Nutter's not polarizing? I didn't see him forging much consensus in his years on council.
No thanks to former councilman Nutter.

Nutter was only able to pass the most controversial bills in City Council over the last couple of years--the smoking ban and ethics reform. Yeah, those were real consensus building failures.

Nutter is the most progressive candidate in the race, with a record of accomplishment to prove it.

its gonna be Knox, which is a tad bit scary. Still strikes me as smelling of way over his head.

Knox's only record of achievement is becoming a millionaire by exploiting the little guy. Great, just what Philly needs.

Wow, a smoking ban. Color me impressed! And, btw, Nutter couldn't even get his smoking ban passed with enough votes to override Street's veto and it would not have passed had the mayor not also supported it.

Sorry, but Nutter is a whole lot closer to being a Republican than a progressive.

LOL! The sure sign your challengers are getting desperate is when the pull out the dreaded 'Republican' card. I'm feeling good about Nutter if that's the best they can do.

FTR, I have no affiliation with any candidate, just an observer and voter. In the three decades I've lived in the city, Nutter has never impressed me. He's a lone wolf who seems unable to create consensus. One need look no further than the ongoing turmoil in his own 52nd ward. The Cmte of 70 even lists the ward leader slot there as "unresolved". If he can't even bring his own ward together, how is he going to govern? IMO his career raises a lot of questions about his ability to be an effective mayor.

Further we all know, or at least we should all know, the Tax Reform Commission was chocked full of members who support the Republican
business agenda of cutting taxes no matter the consequence. Yet IIRC, Nutter pushed for the creation of such a commission. He endorses their recommendations. The business agenda is not my agenda. I doubt it's the agenda of many liberals or progressives either. When I have been asked by undecided voters who
are considering voting for Nutter what I think about the candidates,
I have pointed out Nutter's close
ties with the Chamber of Commerce
and its agenda and that usually does not go over well with them.

And as for Nutter's ethics, two words: Carol Campbell.
